Slip Marbling - Before and After

There is something about how the slip and underglaze color capturing the movement of swirling that I like very much. I guess it is also the capture of the moment of truth and the moment of time that I find appealing.  It is unpretentious.  It is how it should be.

Porcelain slip

In love with free form and slip, especially porcelain slip. These are super thick and creamy slip that I mixed myself (from recycled clay).  I am very close to using up all of them now.

Wind never stop

Remember them? They are now bone-dry and ready for bisque fire.  They looked like this 2 weeks ago. The folds of the saggy bottom make them even more natural.

What are other pots look like? Check this out!

Altered Form - Wind

Wind cannot be materialized without other matter. You see wind when it is blowing leaves on tree. You feel wind when it touches your skin. You smell wind when it carries the sweet scent of a flower or the salty scent of the sea.

Here I am using ceramic to materialize wind.

Four came out of the kiln. Three were fired upside down and gravity was too much which cracked two through, from outside in at the bottom. One got a "T" shape crack on the outside, again at the bottom.  This one I can save.   The smallest and the most twisted one was fired upside up.  Nothing happened to that one. It came out the same as it went in.   Testing still in progress and this is still my obsession.

Potters at Mud Colony also share my obsession in clay.

Plate on Display

My plate at a good home on display. Can you see it? My friend whatsapp me this picture last night. They moved into this new place last week and now my plate is on display. I can't help it but I have a damn good smile on my face.  Haha!

Fire and Wind

Fire caught in the wind. He lit the candle and turned down the light.  That was good enough......for now.

The Wind is blowing strong

What can I say. I'm very hardcore and rigid about me and clay. I still haven't quite figured out the whole wind thing yet. But I'm pushing on. It makes me happy in the process. I know I'm not there yet.

If you are sick of me blahing on and on about the wind for weeks, feel free to switch gear to check out my potter friends on Mud Colony.

Wind - What is it to you?

I have been thinking a lot, a whole lot, about Wind.

How it moves or doesn't move?  It moves other things right? And how we can "see" that it exists? What it feels like when the breeze is caressing my skin, my face?  What it smells like? Does it has a scent to you, in your mind? The temperature of it....the speed of it.....the emotion of it..

I want to capture all these with clay. I want to use clay to recreate / to show what is it like when there is wind.

Will let you know how that goes.

But I know it is gonna take a long while and many, many trials. I don't want the technical stuff to cloud this idea or feeling I have for wind. But I know getting my hands dirty is the only way to reach my end goal if I am ever going to get there.

What is Wind to you? Do tell me........pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Molds taking over

Being away from the studio for 2 weeks, it is now occupied by molds. I knew this was coming. Paper clay and moisture are so inviting for molds.

It doesn't smell bad. It looks kind of nice too. (What is my problem, right? Hahaha).

P.S. Hey, let's check out other studios at Mud Colony.

Pot in a good home

I love it when my pots are landed with good homes. This is my gift for a friend's birthday. She sent me this picture to announce safe arrival at her home.
